On a glorious Sunday, June 6th we were overjoyed to celebrate
Ashton, our 2nd Grandson and baby brother to Thor, was Baptized into the Christian faith in a ceremony at our home church - Trinity Lutheran in Rolling Meadows. The proud parents, Bryan & Sabrina were beaming almost as much as Ashton's God Parents - Ben & Jordan Johnson.
Ashton was howling with the Holy Spirit as Pastor Willer sprinkled the water upon him. He handled it like a trooper. Following the ceremony, Pastor took Ashton and Thor to the front of the Church and presented Ashton as the newest member of Christ's Flock. Very emotional.
During the Childern's Sermon, litle Thor was the only one that went up to the altar to participate. Pastor rewarded him by giving him all the presents for Ashton, including his Bible, Candle, Certificates, etc. It was all Thor could do to hold onto them - but as you see from the picture - he did!
Between Sabrina's extended family and the Johnson family - we took up the 1st 4 pews on both sides of the aisle. A stellar turnout to see our Ashton become a Child of Christ! After the service Sabrina had brought a Hot Breakfast for everyone in the Church - a very sweet gesture.
Following Church it was off to the Race Track to celebrate Ashton. We rented one of Arlington's Party Patios with Burgers, Dogs, Chicken and all the trimmings. I don't know that anyone won any money - but we all had a great time. Sabrina's Mom and brother Sue & Anthony were there along with Sue's brothers families.
On our side, all the boys with their girls in tow, along with Jean & Steve and most of sister Nancy's family. We also were pleased that Kathy's brother Gary, wife Jan and son Corey came out as well. What a group.
Ben & Jordan broke out their Godfather, Godmother, & Godson tee shirts and posed for the picture left. They looked great. Isn't that Ashton a CUTIE!
Toward the end of the day we took a picture under the huge Arlington Park Jumbotron as it beamed the announcement of Ashton's Baptism to the whole crowd. You can see that photo at the bottom of the page.
