On the beautiful weekend of April 9-11, Brett & Rick Rabbit went to

Keeneland Racecourse

in Lexington, Kentucky to visit General Charley and Trainer Pessin. It had been more than a month since we had seen our Super Steed and Brett was game to go with me.

We drove down on the Friday and went directly to the Merrick Inn for dinner with Neil Pessin, fresh off his wildly successful Fair Grounds Campaign this past winter. Neil had also asked new friend Don, racing owner with Jimmy Gulick, and together the 4 of us had dinner. It was great. Picture right is Brett flanked by Neil on the right and Don on the left.

Saturday morning we were up early to report over to the racecourse to see Charley work out. In the afternoon we stayed for the races which featured a Derby Prep called the Blue Grass Stakes.

On the day I had a couple winners, but Brett had the big score with an Exacta wager that included a longshot. Great Job Brettie. Saturday evening, Trainer Pessin took us over to a lovely village called Midway where we ate dinner at an idyllic Bistro La Belle. I would highly recommend.

Sunday morning back to Keeneland to see Charley work out again and the highlight of the weekend was me walking him back to the barn after the workout. I had to step lively to keep up with him, but it was a lovefest with me and Charley as we sauntered under the magnolias, sashayed atop the Blue Grass through the barns and over to his stall.

You know, I'd drop Kathy in a second to marry this horse.

Mid morning, Brett & I piled back into the Staff Car and commenced the 6 hour journey to our home. Picture at the bottom is of our ripped hero after his Sunday workout. He is back at Arlington towards the end of April where he will receive carrots on a daily basis.

Thanks To Neil For Showing Us A Great Time - It Was Outstanding!
