Austons Sure Cure Puts Red Rabbit Racing Back In Business!

On Saturday, October 22, 2011 I get a call from a breathless Trainer Pessin who shouts into the phone, "You're getting a Horse TODAY!"

I ask him the particulars and he says he likes 2 in the 1st at Keeneland - a 25k claimer at a mile and 1/8th on the Polytrack.  The one he wants is Austons Sure Cure, a 5 year old horse from Dale Romans barn.   The other - well who the hell cares because we didn't go for that one.

Neil says he talked with Trainer Block in Chicago and the Trainer Braintrust is unanimous - they want to go for this horse.   Red Rabbit Racing's investing partners, Peggy, Jean, Jeff and Rick agree and give Neil the go ahead to launch this claim.   Neil warns us that there are other potential bidders for this horse so stay tuned for a shake.

Auston goes off as the 2nd favourite and runs his heart out finishing 2nd by a short neck.   Jockey Corey Lanerie had hand ridden The Cure to the head of the stretch where with a flourish he unshielded his riding crop and started viciously whipping OUR horse lefthanded all the way down the lane.   (Prime RRR Jock Eddie Perez would never unleash such a beating - first thing changed for Auston).

Neil stands by in the Racing office and finds that 2 other bidders are in the Claim box for Auston - but sure enough we win the shake and are the new owners of Austons Sure Cure!

Picture upper left is a head shot of our steed, I particularly like the way his ears are outlined in black.   He is a Horse, (meaning testicles still attached) and he is gorgeous and powerful at the same time. Pictures below is Neil Showing off our new monster.   Damn he looks good!
