Capping an exciting day that had started with attending Ben's EIU Graduation, we drove to the University of Illinois at Champaign to watch nephew John Gallo be

Commissioned In The United States Air Force

Nephew John, son of sister Jean and husband Steve, had also graduated earlier that day at U of I.  In the afternoon, a commissioning ceremony for John was conducted by the US Air Force attended by many of our family and friends.

In this ceremony, John was sworn into the service of the United States Air Force.  He will report for duty in Janaury to learn to fly at an Air Force base in Texas.   In the ceremony, John's commander recounted the many awards, and leadership qualities that John had displayed over the course of his College ROTC career.

It was amazing to hear of all the accomplishments that John has achieved and we are so proud of him as he now joins the finest Air Force in the World.   Picture upper left is of a ritual where John walks beneath crossed swords and salutes his father, Steve who also was an airman in the USAF many years before.  It was a touching moment that I'm sure made Steve most proud.

Picture to the right is of the Commisioning announcment that his mother Jean had sent out.    Below are a sampling of some pictures taken at the ceremony. All the way on the bottom of the page is Video of the Commissioning Ceremony.

Following the ceremony we went to a local restaurant where Jean & Steven laid on a great dinner to all of John's family and friends in attendance.   When you sit back, what a day.  2 College graduations and a military commissioning.   Woomba!

Congratulations John as we are so proud of you!

Godspeed 2d Lt John Gallo
